A warm, welcoming and sociable opening event for this year’s LitFest. Our Short Story Competition winner will be announced to a fanfare of trumpets (not quite!) and receive their prize. Other entrants will be given the opportunity to regale us with their stories too, if they wish…and we hope that they do.

Charlotte was a teacher across Manchester for many years and is an engaging speaker. Her second novel Not In Our Hands takes place in Umbria, Italy and is a contemporary story featuring Italian culture, a forbidden romance and the hidden history of sixteenth century Tuscan Jews.

Former newspaper editor and prolific author, Mark talks about the incredible events at the formation of ICI in 1926. Murder He Wrote – The ICI Scandal  tells of the mystery and intrigue surrounding the deaths of Roscoe Brunner and his wife, found shot dead in a London mansion. What was the secret the Brunners took to the grave?

A combined event which has Moulton at its heart.
David Yearsley (Dave Kenneth) – his book Winding the Clock Back is set in Moulton in the 1960’s and is fun, evocative and full of village gossip.
Debbie Bennett & friends – are involved in a community radio play project in Moulton. They have written 16 episodes and would like to tell us about what it is they are hoping to do.

Northwich Folk Club would like to welcome everyone to join them in an evening of  folk music, with some poetry in addition. Should any guest wish to take to the stage themselves to do a song or a reading, they may even be able to be provided with accompaniment!

Award-winning crime writer, Martin Edwards, has enjoyed international success with his numerous crime novels. A solicitor, he has also written true crime articles and seven legal books. He has written many short stories and is a well-known reviewer of crime fiction and legal books. Martin is delighted to be returning to Northwich, where he was educated before he went on to Balliol College, Oxford.

Angela and her guests return once again with what is sure to be another successful evening of poetry and music. There will be an opportunity for open floor readers to take part. All are welcome – do come and enjoy!

All the world’s a stage and the men and women are merely players on it. Mike and Maureen and their fellow actors perform with poetry, prose and music for a Hollywood director who is difficult to please.

Rowan lives with her husband and five children in a very full house in Hertfordshire. She juggles writing novels with raising her family which includes a very lively set of toddler twins whose main hobby is going in opposite directions. The Memory Book is Rowan’s eleventh novel and was chosen as one of the Richard & Judy Autumn Book Club titles for 2014. Her award winning novel Dearest Rose led her to become an active supporter of the domestic abuse charity Refuge, donating 100% of royalties from her e-book novella Woman Walks into a Bar.

We are delighted to announce that the wonderful  Elizabeth Williams is back again by popular demand! In past years she has talked about Elizabeth Gaskell, Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte and has had us all completely spellbound. This year we are intrigued, her subject is to be…Fanny Trollope.

EVENT CANCELLED OWING TO INDISPOSITION OF SARAH RAYNER FOLLOWING AN UNFORTUNATE GARDENING ACCIDENT IN WHICH SHE SUSTAINED AN EYE INJURY FROM A YUCCA PLANT !
Sarah is the author of five traditionally published novels, including the international bestseller One Moment, One Morning and  Another Night, Another Day. As a novelist, Sarah is known for tackling difficult subjects with empathy and insight and, following on from this, she has recently tried going down the self-publishing route with two little non-fiction self-help books, both of which have enjoyed great success.

Whether you’re a staunch fan of The Archers or would love to hear more about life on the cobbles of Coronation Street this is an evening not to be missed! Scriptwriter, Carole, was leaving Ambridge behind and heading for Weatherfield the last time we saw her. Find out more about her successful scriptwriting career and how it came about as she talks to Laura. Two very chatty ladies – am sure this will be an evening of great fun.

Into the Breach

Mark Carey has been an actor and a writer for over 30 years. As a member of the Royal National he worked on plays for Trevor Nunn, and has played theatres all over the country and in the West End. In addition he has worked in radio, and on TV has appeared in  The Invincibles, The Bill, Doctors, Casualty, Allo Allo, London’s Burning, Morse, & more.
Into the Breach is set during the Second World War and is a nostalgic, funny and moving story which will appeal to all. It is a vivid portrait of village life, with all seventeen colourful characters played by one man! Comedy at its best – this promises to be an evening of laughter….and a great way to end our festival for this year.
